About Schambert Editions
I am Christophe Schambert, a professional photographer passionate about the landscapes and coastlines of France. For over twenty years, I have explored Normandy, the Bay of Somme, the Opal Coast and the landscapes of the Hauts-de-France; passing through Brittany and the Grand Est, to capture their changing lights, tides, mists, and silent moments.
My work is guided by a simple idea: to share authentic visual emotions, atmospheres that belong to these regions and make them unique.
In the early 2000s, I was one of the first photographers in France to use professional Epson inkjet printing technology to create large-format posters and art prints.
This is how the Inkjet Photographic Print Collections were born, with the desire to offer images designed for interior decoration: luminous, refined, timeless photographs, capable of bringing breath and elegance to a home or a professional space.
The collections presented here are printed as Premium and Fine Art prints, with particular attention paid to papers, textures, and color fidelity. Each image is the result of patient work on light, framing, and season, to restore the discreet poetry of the landscapes I have been photographing for years.
Publishing plays an essential role in my journey. After a rigorous selection from my image bank, I publish several beautiful photo books dedicated to the Bay of Somme, the Opal Coast, Normandy, and other French landscapes.
These works offer a more intimate immersion, a slower and more narrative reading of these places.
The Christophe Schambert Gallery is, above all, the desire to share authentic images, true lights, and a way of looking at France that prioritizes simplicity, emotion, and long-term appreciation.
Today, I also present a more personal, more intimate photography. An author's approach that favors sensation over demonstration, the essential over accumulation. My new guiding principle can be summarized in one sentence: more simplicity for more emotion.
For these new images, I chose a tool I always keep with me: the professional smartphone (iPhone 16 and 17 Pro Max, Galaxy S25 and S26 Ultra). Not for convenience, but to regain a sense of freedom. To photograph lightly, instinctively, with an immediate presence in the world. The smartphone allows me to work differently: a more discreet, more spontaneous approach, where framing, geometry, black and white, panoramic rotation, and atmospheres take center stage.
These images are conceived as fragments of time. Graphic scenes, lines, textures, perspectives, familiar places suddenly made foreign by light or weather. I particularly like stripped-down subjects, compositions that breathe, calm and contemplative atmospheres. About half of the images are in black and white, to go straight to the emotion, without distraction.
Each photograph is then prepared with the same care as my “classic” works: selection, layout, choice of title, meticulous preparation of the file for printing, in respect of the moment. The prints are offered in Premium and Fine Art, with particular attention to papers, textures, so that the image retains its presence on a wall, over time.
This new photography is my most direct creative space. A way of looking at France, not as an inventory, but as a conversation. A photography that seeks less to “show” than to make feel.
But rest assured, my classic cameras and lenses are still in use too!
